There are many ways to cope with being nervous. I have tried quite a few of them! There are lots of little pills you can take to calm your nerves, though this doesn't seem to be the best technique for me.
Through the years I have found that calmly counting to ten or just focusing on breathing is the best way for me to cope with being nervous. I just close my eyes and breathe in... and breathe out...
Somehow, above all things, just calmly breathing is the best way for me to deal with situations that have me on the edge.
